Mayo’s gone signpost happy.

Has anyone else noticed all the signpost work going on? Just about every road junction has had umpteen posts put up waiting for sings to go on them. It’s bad enough when the council put out at least half a dozen temporary road signs either side of a bit of work they have done. Only to come along and put a permanent “temporary” road sign there as well. Yes you have read correctly. For example on one road near me there are eight temporary road work signs on one side and six on another not including the two permanent road signs declaring a temporary road surface. I mean what a unbelieveable waste of tax payers money. It’s bad enough that they peed all the money up the wall and are taking the rest from us and then come cribbing that they don’t have the budget to repair roads etc. Then to see then blowing loads of money putting up ridiculous road signs everywhere is just an insult to injury. There is so much road furniture along the roads now that you become blinded to everything.
Why couldn’t they put the money to proper use and repair the roads properly. And that means actually putting a road surface on the road not just a load of chippings and tar, that’s designed to stick to your car and not the road.
They should bring back the stocks to the market square again. Then we, the public, could put the so-called decision makers into them and really let them know what we think.
Also, can anyone tell me why that after spending a small fortune putting in massive change of speed signs at the edge of town they decided it was a good idea to put tape over them and move the change of speed to another pole fifty yards up the road just to encompass another road? Why was this not thought about before hand? We should get a tax refund off their salaries every time they do something like this. The council / government might then learn that they don’t have an endless supply of money.
